Courtney fell in love with wood burning in 2019 at the Mississippi Art Education Association Fall Conference. The main influence that inspires Courtney isn’t one particular artist but just the use of pen and ink as a drawing medium. Using a wood burning tool is very similar to using ink when you draw Courtney says. The focal point of most of Courtney’s work comes from nature and animals that display various textures and patterns. Birds are her favorite because of the feather variations and color that can be brought out.
